MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

ANDREA AGUIRRE LÓPEZ

As a competitive volleyball player, I have experienced firsthand the intensity, discipline, and physical demands that define youth athletics. Through these experiences, I observed a consistent and concerning gap: while athletes dedicate countless hours to improving performance, many lack access to fundamental health education essential for safe and sustainable training.

I have seen talented athletes sidelined by preventable injuries, teammates unsure how to recognize concussion symptoms, and young competitors pushing through pain without understanding the long-term consequences. These experiences revealed a broader need for accessible, structured health education in youth sports.

At the same time, my growing interest in medicine deepened my commitment to addressing this gap. Through academic exploration in areas such as anatomy, clinical reasoning, and concussion awareness, I began to understand the powerful connection between education, prevention, and long-term athletic well-being.

AthleteRx was founded at the intersection of these two perspectives: the athlete and the future physician.

Through AthleteRx, I aim not only to help athletes perform better, but to empower them to understand their bodies, prevent injuries, and develop habits that support lifelong health.

Looking ahead, I envision AthleteRx expanding across Puerto Rico and beyond, evolving into a broader youth health initiative that integrates education, leadership, and community impact.

AthleteRx represents more than an initiative—it is a commitment to ensuring that every young athlete has access to the knowledge needed to train safely, perform confidently, and thrive.
