ANDREA AGUIRRE LÓPEZ - Founder and Program Director
AthleteRx was founded by ANDREA AGUIRRE LÓPEZ, a student-athlete and future physician.
Inspired by her experience in competitive sports, she created AthleteRx to address the gap in health education for young athletes.
Through workshops and community engagement, she is building a movement focused on safer, smarter athletic development.
Our Team
AthleteRx is supported by a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals, athletic leaders, and trained student ambassadors.
This collaborative structure ensures that all programming is grounded in evidence-based practices while remaining accesible and impactful for young athletes.

Dr. Artemio Torres-Martínez, MD
Orthopedic Surgeon | Sports Medicine Specialist | Medical Program Advisor
Dr. Artemio Torres-Martínez is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and musculoskeletal health.
He served as the President of the Puerto Rican Society of Orthopedics and Traumathology (SPOT).
Dr. Torres-Martínez has contributed to the advancement of sports medicine education through his leadership in professional forums, including the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Symposium (2019).
Dr. Annette Martínez López, MD, FAAP, FACR
Board-Certified Pediatric Rheumatologist | FAAP, FACR | Medical Education Leader
Dr. Annette Martínez López is a board-certified specialist in Pediatric Rheumatology and General Pediatrics, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and the American College of Rheumatology (FACR).
She serves as Assistant Professor at Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine and Director of Medical Education at San Jorge Children’s Hospital.
